Coastal Flood Advisory - Weather Alert

  Quote found on the Internet “A Coastal Flood Advisory is currently in effect and will remain so until 10 PM EDT this evening. This advisory indicates that low-lying areas may experience tidal flooding, leading to potential inundation of up to six inches above ground level.  The advisory specifically pertains to the shoreline areas within the District of Columbia. The anticipated flooding is expected to impact locations such as the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive, the Hains Point Loop Road, and areas surrounding the Tidal Basin. Individuals in these areas should be prepared for possible flooding, especially as high tide approaches, which is forecasted to occur at 7:51 AM and again at 8:14 PM. In light of these conditions, it is crucial for those who must travel to plan accordingly, allowing for additional time as certain roads may be closed due to flooding. For the past 8 years, I have been actively involved more frequently in the Brightwood Area. In fact, I have also disseminated numerous flyers in the area from 2018 - 2019 and again from August 2023 - October 2023. "Brightwood is one of DC's oldest upper NW neighborhoods. Founded as White Mill Seat in 1756, then Peter's Mill Seat, to Crystal Springs, then to Brighton around 1860, the neighborhood was primarily farmland and a haven for freed slaves."
