Tranquil energy

Digital art created on canvas. July 2022. Afrika Abney  “Teal combines the calming properties of blue with the renewal qualities of green. It is a revitalizing and rejuvenating color that also represents open communication and clarity of thought. It is believed to promote a sense of tranquility, relaxation, and sophistication. It can also symbolize freshness, elegance, and a connection to the natural world.” Teal blue mixed with white and navy blue depicted in this abstract digital art piece creates a sense of movement and depth of swirls and sharp brushstrokes.

White and Black

"In most cases, white represents pure light, and black represents darkness. Famous artists like Marinus Boezem and Jorge Baldessari used black and white coloration in their paintings to represent contrasting ideas or parts of nature. In many cultures, white is seen as the color of innocence, purity, peace, and loyalty." White and Black. Digital Art created on canvas. March 13, 2024. Afrika Abney  "In art, white can create a sense of serenity and calm, conveying an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. White can also be seen as a representation of balance and neutrality in art; combined with black, it creates a harmonious contrast that emphasizes the beauty of both colors through their duality. Black evokes sophistication; white communicates innocence. It's clear: black and white are opposites. Contrast creates completion. The convergence of black and white (more so than any other color combination) is an example of how two divergent colors communicate more powerfully ...

Pattern of life

"Pattern of life (POL) or behavior pattern describes a recurrent (e.g., normalcy) way of acting by an individual or group toward a given object or in a given situation. Usually, one has a specific POL, and this POL is repeatable. A pattern of life is an observable manifestation of an underlying regularity in human behavior. The operation of social mechanisms provided in this report explain how such manifestations can depend on the activities and interactions of individuals." On July 13, 2022, I created the below digital art pieces entitled: Patterns of Life based on how I continue to demonstrate understanding, empathy and commitment. This is evident not only in the digital art pieces that I created, but through my daily actions that I display.

Visual Art Process

"The artistic process is a complex multiplicity of processes. It is a consilience, literally a jumping together of beliefs, aesthetic sensibility, personal interactions and cooperation, access to and expenditure of a variety of resources—specific to each arts entity; all supporting the making and connecting of art." Two years ago, I created visual art process digital art pieces using a computerized application.

Summer Solstice

“The Summer Solstice is also known as “Midsummer” and Litha. It’s the longest day of the year, and it’s the day when the Sun is at its highest point. The date of the Summer Solstice isn’t fixed, it’s flexible and it depends on the calendar shift, but it’s always somewhere between 20 and 22 of June (or between 20 and 22 December if you live in the Southern Hemisphere).”   "The summer solstice is a time for strength and vitality for action and movement."- Carole Carlton   “Green was the silence, wet was the light, the month of June trembled like a butterfly.” – Pablo Neruda   Every year when Summer Solstice begins, I usually meditate, create art, and examine nature. However, for the past two years, during Summer Solstice, I have shifted my energy towards meditating and creating art. A time to reflect upon the goals and dreams accomplished while preparing a nest for future hopes, desires, and unanswered prayers.  Summer Solstice. Digital art cre...
