During my time as a student, the D.C. Public Schools system experienced a significant turnover in leadership, with several superintendents taking the helm over the years. “Floretta D. McKenzie served from July 1, 1981, until February 8, 1988, followed by Andrew E. Jenkins, who held the position from May 25, 1988, to May 15, 1991. In between these two leaders, Jenkins briefly stepped in as acting superintendent from February 9, 1988, to May 24, 1988. Franklin L.
