When I was a youth, I studied visual art at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, Corcoran School of the Art (1980s and from 1993 - 1997) and Bell Multicultural High School (1991-1993). I used various art materials. Some of them included pastels, oil paints, acrylic paints, and charcoal.

"Pastels or pastel colors belong to a pale family of colors, which, when described in the HSV color space, have high value and low saturation. They are named after an artistic medium made from pigment and solid binding agents, similar to crayons." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastel_(color)

"Oil paints are primarily used on canvas or thicker boards, but they can also be used on wood, certain metals, and ceramics. Because of their oily base, these paints work best when using a primer as a base coat."

"Acrylic paints contain a pigment, a binder and a vehicle or carrier for the pigment and binder."

"Charcoal is a lightweight black carbon residue produced by strongly heating wood in minimal oxygen to remove all water and volatile constituents." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charcoal

Waves of Serenity

Waves of Serenity. Digital art created on canvas. August 13, 2024. Afrika Abney “Achieving a peaceful and restorative sleep is crucial for overall well-being, and interestingly, certain colors are believed to enhance this experience. Colors such as orange, blue, green, and silver are often associated with promoting tranquility and relaxation, which are vital for a good night's rest. These hues not only create a soothing environment but also stimulate the mind's creativity, allowing for a more vivid and imaginative dream state. The color orange, for instance, is known to evoke feelings of warmth and comfort, making it an excellent choice for creating a cozy bedroom atmosphere. Blue, on the other hand, is often linked to calmness and serenity, which can significantly improve sleep quality. Green, representing nature and renewal, brings a sense of balance and harmony, while silver adds a touch of elegance and tranquility, enhancing the overall ambiance of the sleeping space.”

Refrain from drawing conclusions

It is important to refrain from drawing conclusions without first reviewing the precise information I have shared recently. My academic journey as a college student spanned from 1993 to 1997, and I believe that understanding this context is essential for a meaningful discussion. I encourage you to take the time to engage with the details I have provided to foster a more informed dialogue. Optimistic Whisper

“Optimistic Whisper" utilizes a soft pale yellow hue to effectively convey a sense of hope and positivity. This choice of color is significant, as pale yellow is often associated with warmth, light, and a gentle brightness that can uplift the spirit. The subtlety of the shade allows for a nuanced expression of optimism. The concept of optimism within the sphere of abstract art serves as a powerful lens through which to explore the emotional and psychological dimensions of artistic expression. Abstract art, characterized by its departure from representational forms, allows artists to convey feelings and ideas that transcend the limitations of traditional imagery. This genre often embraces vibrant colors, dynamic shapes, and fluid compositions, all of which can evoke a sense of hope and positivity. The absence of concrete subjects invites viewers to engage with the artwork on a personal level, fostering an optimistic interpretation that resonates with their own experiences and asp...
