Spirit of Labor. Digital art created on canvas. September 2, 2024. Afrika Abney

“Today marks Monday, September 2, 2024, a day dedicated to honoring the contributions of workers across various sectors, as it is Labor Day. This occasion serves as a reminder of the importance of labor rights and the achievements of the labor movement throughout history.

The concept of abstract painting can be intricately woven into the celebration of Labor Day, a holiday that honors the contributions and achievements of workers. This theme allows for a vibrant exploration of the essence of labor through the use of colors, shapes, and forms that evoke the spirit of industriousness. By employing abstract techniques, artists can capture the dynamic energy and diverse experiences of the workforce, transforming the traditional symbols of labor into a visual language that resonates with both emotion and meaning.”

I work from home and have been working from home for many years as an African - American, I pray that racism and discrimination will come to an end.

Tranquil Skies

Tranquil Skies. Digital art created on canvas. August 14, 2024. Afrika Abney “The hue of blue has long been associated with various celestial phenomena, and one of the most captivating is its connection to the Waxing Gibbous Moon. This phase of the moon, characterized by its almost full appearance, casts a serene and enchanting glow that often evokes feelings of tranquility and introspection. The deep, rich tones of blue can mirror the vastness of the night sky, creating a harmonious relationship between the color and the moon's luminous presence. As the moon waxes, it becomes a symbol of growth and potential, much like the way blue can represent depth and stability. Waxing Gibbous Moon, the color blue takes on a deeper significance. This phase occurs just before the full moon, when the moon is illuminated more than half but less than fully, symbolizing a time of anticipation and preparation.
