Why Visual Art?

 

I express my personality through Visual Art. I am very observant and see possibilities everywhere. I seek out new experiences and are open to my emotions. I am intrinsically motivated and have a high-sensitivity to beauty. This is shown through my abstract paintings and collages using various materials such as canvas, paper, acrylic paint, and glue just to name a few with varying techniques. 

 My abstract paintings and collages are influenced by many abstract expressionist and collage artists. Some of them include Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Pablo Picasso and Lois Mailou Jones.

Through capturing my daily experiences, I depict them through color, texture and abstract expressions. I have had many opportunities to learn about the techniques of art under various well known artists such as Aziza Gibson - Hunter, Marvin Sinn and Winston Kennedy are just to name a few.

I believe that by being a visual artist, I am able to understand and build a stronger connection between children and nature. For over 25 years, I have had many opportunities to present my visual art in the community as a workshop instructor, leader or career presenter.

In conclusion, I believe that Visual Art is shown within my personality because of its own unique way of allowing me to capture my views of the world.
