As a professional visual artist and art consultant, I believe that true integrity is an essential trait in both the creation and appreciation of art. My abstract digital painting, Integrity in Motion, serves as a powerful testament to this belief, capturing the essence of integrity through bold colors and dynamic forms.

Visual art and artistic process

My visual art is crafted entirely on my computer, utilizing various digital software tools that allow for a wide range of creative expression. This modern approach enables me to explore different techniques and styles, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms. The digital medium provides me with the flexibility to experiment and refine my work in ways that are both innovative and efficient. Previously, my artistic process took place on the floor of my home, where I balanced both my workspace and creative endeavors. This intimate setting fostered a unique environment that encouraged spontaneity and inspiration. Transitioning from a physical workspace to a digital platform has transformed my artistic practice, enabling me to create with greater precision and versatility. Earthbound Essence

In the past, my hometown of Washington, DC was a vibrant community populated by individuals who shared my African-American heritage. The streets were alive with the presence of people who resembled me, creating a sense of belonging and cultural identity that was palpable. My complexion, a warm shade of brown, symbolizes more than just the hue of my skin; it embodies a connection to nature and the earth itself. It reflects the resilience and strength of my heritage, as well as the deep-rooted ties to the land and the environment that have shaped the experiences of African-American communities throughout history. The memories of that time in Washington, DC evoke a profound appreciation for the cultural richness that comes from a shared identity. The brown skin that I wear is not merely a physical attribute; it is a representation of a legacy that intertwines with the stories of countless individuals who have come before me.

The significance of repetition

The significance of repetition. Digital art created on canvas. September 28, 2024. Afrika Abney For those that do not have a background in fine art, specifically abstract painting, one needs to understand that creating art is all about repetition. Use of materials and tools to depict emotion and thoughts through color, form and shape. “The significance of repetition in both abstract digital art and traditional abstract painting cannot be overstated, as it serves as a fundamental principle that enhances the viewer's experience and understanding of the artwork. In abstract digital art, repetition can manifest through the use of recurring shapes, colors, or patterns, creating a rhythm that draws the viewer's eye and encourages deeper engagement with the piece. This technique not only establishes a sense of harmony and balance within the composition but also allows for the exploration of variations and transformations, inviting the audience to perceive subtle differences and nuanc...
