I chose brown ochre to represent the color of my skin. White and black to represent the racism and discrimination that I began to experience in the 1990s and continued beyond the 1990s. There is darkness within the experiences of racism and discrimination. However, the contrasting colors represent the persistence of overcoming the hardships of experiencing racism and discrimination. On September 15th, 2024, the Moon was in the Waxing Gibbous phase, characterized by its illumination of over 50% but not yet fully illuminated, which would signify a Full Moon. This particular phase is notable for its bright and prominent appearance in the night sky, captivating observers with its beauty. Observers in the Northern Hemisphere would have noticed that the right side of the Moon was illuminated, while those in the Southern Hemisphere would have seen the left side lit up. This distinction is a result of the Earth's position relative to the Moon and the Sun, influencing how we perceive the Moon's illumination. Prelli Williams

  "Prelli Anthony Williams is a Washington, DC native and product of the DC public school system. As soon as he could hold a pencil, at the age of three (his family says) he drew on any blank surfaces, brown paper grocery bags, on back of Polaroid photos, books and walls. After graduating from Eastern High School (Washington, DC) in 1975, Prelli relocated to New York City to attend the School of Visual Arts. Despite financial hardships and struggles of many Black males during that period, Williams managed to stay employed, raise a family and complete college Nine years later, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1984 with a Major in Advertising and a Minor in Graphic Design.
