Dynamic and dedicated visual artist with over 30 years of experience, starting my artistic journey at age five. Trained at prestigious institutions such as the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop and the Corcoran, I have developed a strong proficiency in abstract art and have made significant contributions through exhibitions at renowned venues like The Phillips Collection and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. My career highlights include national recognition in the Congressional Art Competition and a robust portfolio of workshops and advocacy for art's transformative power. As a professional visual artist and consultant, I empower organizations—from small businesses to non-profits—by fostering meaningful connections and developing innovative campaigns to effectively engage audiences. I prioritize building honest relationships through creative strategies, ensuring success in every project I undertake.
I met Mama Aziza when I was a student at NationHouse. I was 2 at that time. Years later, in 2005, she invited me to participate in the James A. Porter Colloquium from April 14, 2005 - April 16, 2005 which took place at Howard University. "“Aziza” Claudia Gibson-Hunter was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Temple University, (BS), and received her MFA from Howard University. Aziza attended Bob Blackburn’s Printmaking Studio, the New York Arts Students League, and later received a fellowship from the Bronx Museum of Art. She joined “Where We At“, a group of Black women artists in the early 1980’s. Ms. Gibson-Hunter was an administrator at Parsons School of Design and a faculty member at Howard University, and Bowie State University. Ms. Gibson-Hunter has received multiple awards and shows nationally and internationally."
