Finger Painting

"Finger-painting can be an excellent stress-reliever. The sheer experience of using your fingers to create something fresh and new can be very uplifting emotionally and psychologically."

"You've got more talent in your little finger than you have in your big finger." - Unknown

"One never knows what one is going to do. One starts a painting and then it becomes something quite different." - Pablo Picasso

As a dedicated advocate for finger painting as a transformative form of self-expression, I have spent over three decades honing my craft and creating captivating works of art that resonate with viewers on a profound emotional level. With a background in fine arts, I bring a wealth of expertise and skill to my practice, utilizing both acrylic and finger paint to bring my visions to life on canvas and paper.

Some of the finger paintings that I created between 2021 - 2023 have recently been thrown away. Some colors that I choose did not blend well after the painting dried and the message was not conveyed efficiently.
When producing finger paintings, it is important to make sure that the colors do not overlap one another and does not overpower on another.

The memories of that time in Washington, DC evoke a profound appreciation for the cultural richness that comes from a shared identity. The brown skin that I wear is not merely a physical attribute; it is a representation of a legacy that intertwines with the stories of countless individuals who have come before me.

The significance of repetition

The significance of repetition. Digital art created on canvas. September 28, 2024. Afrika Abney For those that do not have a background in fine art, specifically abstract painting, one needs to understand that creating art is all about repetition. Use of materials and tools to depict emotion and thoughts through color, form and shape. “The significance of repetition in both abstract digital art and traditional abstract painting cannot be overstated, as it serves as a fundamental principle that enhances the viewer's experience and understanding of the artwork. In abstract digital art, repetition can manifest through the use of recurring shapes, colors, or patterns, creating a rhythm that draws the viewer's eye and encourages deeper engagement with the piece. This technique not only establishes a sense of harmony and balance within the composition but also allows for the exploration of variations and transformations, inviting the audience to perceive subtle differences and nuanc...
